This is a portrait to honor undocumented Mexican workers in the United States of America. My father was an architect in Mexico, and once we moved here in 2005, I started working with him every summer. I would is it his sites, learn the tools that take to build a home, and listen to workers stories from all walks of life - almost all would have a different reason to be working, but all would end up feeling invisible behind these tools. Tools would break and so did people. It always felt strange to me how these lives were as replaceable as the tool itself, and how one could visit Home Depot for both the person and the tool. I hope in the near future we have better protection laws for the people who help build our world.
